Playing California for the very first time, Mauritania’s Noura Mint Seymali will transport Angelenos to the crossroads of Arab and African traditions.

Brought up where the Sahara, the Magreb, and West Africa intersect, the Moorish griot (poet/storyteller) combines a rare classical mastery with beats that speak to global youth culture. Be enthralled by her electro-fusion of traditional Berber music, reggae, Afro-pop, funk, and desert blues.

Native American Intertribal Youth Dance Workshops 2010 Schedule
The workshops are an opportunity for Native American youth to be mentored in the dance styles commonly seen at powwows, such as the Fancy Shawl and Jingle Dance, Southern Straight and Grass Dance. A northern (Wildhorse) and a southern (Hale and Co.) drum provide songs and members of the local American Indian community are on hand to support dancers. While the focus of the workshop is children, adults are also welcome.
Dancers do not need to be in regalia; girls and women should bring their shawls.
Workshops are held on Tuesdays beginning at 7:30 p.m. and ending at 9 p.m. at two locations, one in Los Angeles and one in Anaheim.
There is no fee for attending the workshops; it is requested that you sign in upon arrival so that the validity and need for providing this service to the Indian community can be recorded.

WALK ACROSS THE WORLD is a worldwide coordinated program bringing spiritual and community leaders, children and adults into global collaboration to 'Walk for Tolerance & Understanding’. Walker’s distances will be logged throughout the year to culminate annually on October 2nd. Our goal is to have the combined total distance covered on all the walks in a year’s time equal the circumference of our Earth, some 24,800 miles.

Your World

Tell us what actions for Tolerance and Understanding are creating an impact in your part of the world to be featured on Living Wellness' World Map
